I thought I knew what true cold was, but it turns out I had no understanding of the immediate shock delivered by sub-zero temperatures, however where I grew up as a kiddo every one of us had mild Winters, except for I did not think that at the time, of course. When you are a kid, all you think is what you experience so therefore when it got down close to frigid I thought that was as brutally cold as it could ever get, however turns out that what I believed to be incredibly cold is nothing compared to the weather every one of us get up here regularly in the Winter. These mornings I keep a rudimentary heating source tucked in the trunk of our vehicle at all times, in case of an emergency for the times while I was in a coldsnap; I have a small bundle of kindling and a road flare on hand also in case I need to start a fire as a source of heating. I also keep a battery-powered space furnace tucked away back there. This little furnace is no larger than a toaster oven, which seems useless, but it can keep a small area like the inside of a stalled vehicle sizzling hot for numerous minutes. That should provide you a good system of how cold the Winter gets here, because being caught and deserted out on the wrong night without a furnace could spell your doom. I really do wish I was kidding, and I wish I was just trying to petrify you into buying a heater, but frankly, it is true. The fact that I am a portable furnace salesman should in no way work to influence your studying of this story, however because there is really a good and extravagant lesson here — always have a heater.
