I have consistently been the only 1 to follow the path of least resistance. If I believe strongly about something, well of course then I fight for it & make it happen. But if I don’t believe strongly 1 way or the other, then I try to just go with the flow. Why waste energy fighting battles that I am not absolutely invested in for my whole life? In any event, following the path of least resistance is what landed me here in this stupid office, where I have been toiling away as an assistant for many years on end. It took a little while for me to realize I didn’t absolutely care about the job I have, or any of our co-workers. Thanks to a terrible air conditioning component in the building & a visit from a local service business, I may be on the edge of turning things around. The Heating, Ventilation plus A/C professional strolled in comfortably wearing shorts & a collared tee shirt, whistling a tune as if he was thrilled to be at his actual work. I have never once been thrilled to be at work, so I immediately started paying all my attention to the Heating, Ventilation plus A/C job he was doing instead of my own work. I imagined myself tooling around town in the repair van, cheerily tuning up AC units & filling up freon canisters at our leisure instead. Maybe if I could get a job finally working on Heating, Ventilation plus A/C systems, well maybe I might be more relaxed, care about this professional was. As long as he repaired the office cooling system for us, I asked him a few questions about his work! He explained that all Heating, Ventilation plus A/C professionals these days need to pass a certain test to become certified, so maybe I’ll choose to just stay where I am after all.
