Data collection is fun!

When I was a little kid, I always found math to be intriguing.  I loved algebra and geometry, and I couldn’t get enough of Statistics. In college, I took every advanced statistics class that I could find. I graduated with my masters in mathematical engineering, five months ago. It’s been a slow start to finding the right job. I’ve been to a dozen different interviews, but nothing has sparked my interest until a few weeks ago. This week, I started my first real job. I’ve had part-time jobs before, but this job is a real career. I’m working for a statistics firm, that collects and analyzes data from building management systems. Many large companies and firms are using integrated building software to keep track of building data. The data can be collected and analyzed in order to provide details on the building systems. I work for a company with two major clients who are both on the fortune 500 list. I have been assigned to the team that works on energy efficiency projects. It’s my job to collect and analyze the data from the building automation software. I use a special mathematical algorithm to determine ways that companies can cut back on energy costs. We use this information to provide companies with better, energy efficient solutions. Most of these companies are looking to go green because of the various ecological and economical benefits. Collecting and using this daI enjoy going to work every day. I don’t know if I will get bored of business intelligence analytics, but I’m excited to go to work tomorrow.
