Working from home has been an adjustment on many levels. I spent a career rising early, donning a suit and traveling in to an office. It was the way everyone went to work. Now, I do business from my home office. I turned what once was a guest room into a place I could go about my work. Unfortunately, my guest room turned office is a converted attic. Converting the attic into a bedroom never bothered me because I didn’t spend any time there. Now, I am there much of the day and it is stifling. The HVAC cooling unit just doesn’t quite get it done for cooling off the space. I would find any excuse to get up from my desk and enter a cool part of the house. My productivity was not good and I found myself attempting to work at the kitchen table more than at my desk. This simply wouldn’t do so, I called our heating and cooling company for help. The owner of the HVAC company came to my house to personally assess the situation. It was a quick assessment. The heating and cooling pro suggested installing a mini-split heating and cooling unit. I hadn’t heard of this type of HVAC system. Our trusted HVAC man explained how a mini-split system works. The heating and cooling system is ductless so would work perfectly in the attic. A small condenser unit would be place up under the eaves. The condenser would then be connected through a small hole in the wall to the inside unit. Mounted high on the wall, the inside unit would then heat and cool the entire space evenly. I was sold and ordered the unit on the spot. I no longer look for reasons to leave my desk and my productivity level is at an all time high.
