When our wife, Paul & I moved down south, all of us had never heard of a heat pump. We’d lived our whole lives in the northeastern section of the country, & heated our lake current home with a forced air gas furnace. We’d never had a need for a central cooling system, & managed our Summer comfort with box fans, open windows & portable cooling systems. Paul & I moved to an area where the weather never dips below cold. It gets cold enough that all of us need some type of heating for a few months, & all of us actually require air conditioning system for the summer. The outside temperature periodically climbs up into the triple digits, & the humidity is horrendous. The current home all of us bought is equipped with an electric heat pump. This innovative plan combines heating & cooling capacity into a single unit. It does not burn fossil fuels to generate heat, however runs legitimately on electricity. This avoids the concern over combustion byproducts, such as formaldehyde, carbon monoxide & carbon dioxide. It also is entirely environmentally friendly & helps minimize our carbon footprint. The heat pump simply moves heat from 1 location to another. During the Summer months, the heat pump acts almost exactly like a central cooling system. It extracts heat from inside the lake current home & pumps it outdoors, creating a cooling effect. In the winter, the heat pump actually reverses operation, finding ambient heat in outdoor air, con important it to a higher temperature & delivering it indoors. This process is clean, safe, quiet, & charmingly energy efficient. Plus, the heat pump does a fantastic task of combating excess humidity during cooling mode, & effectively filters the indoor air.
