The last thing that you want to run into at a major sporting event is a problem with the bathroom facilities. Unfortunately, that’s exactly the problem that we ran into when we went downtown to see a national hockey league game last week. My kids had been waiting for months to see the game, and we were all so excited that we could barely contain ourselves. We are all big fans of hockey. We waited in line to get through security and to get our tickets scanned. After that, clutching our popcorn and giant sodas, we tried to make our way to our seats. It was only then that we noticed the “Out of Order” signs on the doors to the restrooms in the main throughway. Just next to the restroom doors were four men dressed in uniforms from a plumbing company. They were unloading plumbing tools from a maintenance cart. One of the ushers at the venue informed us that they were having difficulty with some of the pipes in that part of the stadium. The bathroom plumbing on that floor wasn’t working at all and the plumbing company was doing the best they could to get the situation rectified as fast as they could. Until then, every single fan in the stadium was going to have to use the restrooms on the first floor or the third floor because the toilets wouldn’t flush on the second floor. Of course, our tickets were on the second floor! The lines for the bathrooms were ridiculous. I couldn’t believe that on the one night that we had tickets, the venue had major plumbing problems!
