My family and I are avid movie fans, and decided that we would try our hand at making a short film. The idea for the film itself was pretty ghoulish, about a family of crazy clowns having victims over for a formal dinner. I spent a few days transforming my dining room into a charnel house. I hung up plastic sheeting over all the walls, partially because it looked cool and mostly to keep my walls from getting stained with fake blood. I have to admit, the setting looked pretty cool, but we did run into a couple small problems. Whenever the A/C would kick on, it would make the plastic sheeting billow up, which would make it impossible to film. On the other hand, we couldn’t just shut off the air conditioning for an entire day, or we would all overheat. I tried closing the two air vents in the dining room, and that helped a little bit. It did not altogether solve the problem, though, because the circulating air from the cooling system kept tugging at the plastic making it float up. Even when I taped the plastic sheeting down, those darned air vents in other rooms would still make it move! Finally we had to make the move and shut down the A/C for a few minutes at a time, just long enough to get some scenes shot. It was sort of a hassle running back and forth to the thermostat all through the day, but ultimately it was worth it. This movie is going to be great!
