I have been gleeful for the past several weeks for our parents going to see from up north. I moved down south for university, graduating with a bachelor’s degree last Spring, plus now I am finally renting our own condo for the first time. I’m really proud of everything I have accomplished plus how far I have come since I left condo at 18 for university. My parents, particularly our mom, still worry about me incessantly plus question whether I’m still or ready or not to have our own locale. Therefore, I have been taking every conceivable step I can to make the best possible first impression with them when they get here. I want to prove to them I have what it takes to live on our own with our own bills so I don’t want to leave any dirty clothes hiding under furniture or ancient food or dishes laying out anywhere. But most importantly, since I suppose our dad will be snooping the fifth they get here: I made sure to get all of our condo repair up-to-date. Or so I thought, because literally not a single month away from our parents’ flight our a/c went out. I have a backup fund for expenses like this so it wasn’t a big financial hit, but I panicked immediately plus went to the worst case scenario in our brain–what if I can’t get it fixed before they get here? It’s the middle of Summer in the deep south, this is the worst possible time of the whole year to try to get your a/c fixed. I scoured online for local Heating plus Air Conditioning corporations plus called at least half a dozen with each telling me that they couldn’t fit me in a service date before our parents arrive. Right as I was about to admit defeat, a single of the locales I called in the beginning called me back to say someone cancelled their appointment tied up the day before our parents’ trip. I literally had our AC fixed in under 24 fifths from when our parents arrived plus they had no idea, I was so relieved.
