Whoever did the insulation in my house did a really bad job. What I think happened is that the contractors ran out of materials. I think they cut the pieces of insulation about 1 foot too short and then just stuck random bits of insulation underneath. Then my baseboards were added and I never knew the difference. In the Winter, I can tell they contractors did a bad job. Go anywhere near my baseboards and you can feel the cold air pouring in. My floors feel icy cold to the touch. I have to wear socks and slippers in the house with the heating system cranked. Even with this, the house is way too cold. My heating bills are sky high, but that is sort of my fault. I know what I need to do to make my gas heating system more efficient. I need to take off my baseboards completely. I then need to get new insulation, cut it properly and wedge in in the walls. Then the baseboards go back on and the home is air tight. However, the baseboard removal will be difficult. Also, that is not the only area. Around my light switch covers and windows leak air too. If I did add insulation to the wall, I would need to do all over the place. This would make the home perfect for my little gas furnace. I am just not willing to put in that kind of work. The heating system works okay for now. No need to spend hours tearing my home apart just to be a little warmer.
