Building a business

I have been an entrepreneur for the majority of my life, so I’m well aware of the price of doing business. If you want to make money, you have to spend money. So the seasoned saying goes, I guess. Since I run a small restaurant that is considered to be high-end and elegant, sacrificing for your business is integral to success. I try to provide more than the best dining experience possible for our customers, as I also maintain a professional work environment where every employee is seen as a professional. Over the years, I’ve found that there are certain things some of us might take for granted. For instance, someone might say that the food quality is most important in the food service industry. Still, I would disagree. To our minds, the most important thing for the overall customer experience is the atmosphere. Of course, the food can’t be complete garbage – however, it also doesn’t have to be the most fancy meal ever made. Meanwhile, if your decor is tacky, or if the Heating and A/C is not honestly working right, people will be much more quick to not come back and write scathing reviews. They will honestly notice something is off if, for instance, the air conditioner is stuck on and it is too cold. When people are paying money for a meal in a diner, they aren’t just paying for the food – they are also paying for the atmosphere! That includes a fully functioning Heating and A/C system. Many refuse to accept this when building their business, but a critical part of conducting business is making the customer comfortable – and easy to influence!
