As an avid fly fisherman, I recently took up the hobby of tying our own flies, and at first I didn’t realize how intricate the hobby can be, however the more I get into it the more complex our patterns become. There honestly is an art form to tying flies, even the more easy ones enjoy clouser minnows; Our local fly shop has a quarterly party with other local fly tiers and they supply seminars on unusual flies. There are several unusual patterns for fresh and saltwater, so having a resource enjoy that is helpful. At the last fly tying event, the Heating, Ventilation and A/C system in the building was malfunctioning so they ended up having to set up portable furnaces to keep the shop warm. There were a lot more people than was anticipated, so that helped keep the venue warm, however without the little portable space furnaces it would have been pretty freezing and annoyed in there, however i grew up in the southern part of the country where it is relatively all year long, so I don’t care all that much for colder weather. I love the fall when there is a briskness in the air, however when the freezing of Winter hits I would rather be elsewhere. I ended up standing right next to one of the little portable space heaters, so I stayed pretty toasty through the whole seminar. I hope the fly shop gets their Heating, Ventilation and A/C system laboring soon, as I would not enjoy to see next week’s class be freezing enjoy this one.
