I recently invested in an automation system for my home. By linking my appliances to a single control, which is accessible through the internet, I’ve created a “smart home.” I can now make adjustments, check status, and optimize operation of essential systems in my home through an app on my phone. I’ve included my overhead lights, washing machine, door locks, security cameras, furnace and air conditioner in the home automation system. From my smartphone or laptop, I can check up on my house. I know which rooms are empty or occupied, the temperature, humidity levels, and whether my appliances are turned on or off. I can also track energy usage, take advantage of helpful tips, and avoid sudden malfunctions. I’ve noticed the biggest improvement with the operation of my furnace and air conditioner. Since heating and cooling requirements make up the biggest portion of my budget, I was hoping to trim monthly costs. The home automation system makes it easy and convenient to conserve energy. I am able to customize temperature settings room-by-room, and avoid heating or cooling empty areas. I have programmed the system to automatically adjust the furnace and air conditioner when my family is typically out of the house or asleep. Plus, sensors within the house track the location of our smartphones, and the home automation system knows when we’re on our way home. It activates the furnace or air conditioner to welcome us back to the perfect temperature. Because it alerts me to the need for air filter changes or maintenance requirements, I’m taking better care of the HVAC system. This should help to avoid costly repairs and premature system failure.
