I’m not sure what I do

Times have gotten crazy lately.  It seems that the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.  With this, things like crime rates have risen too. When my friends recently purchase a house to flip they never even thought about those things.  It is in a rough part of town and that is why they were able to purchase it so cheap, little did they know, it would end up costing them a lot in the long run.  They had dreams of doing most of the work themselves and selling the property for twice what they paid for it. All of that was dashed when they had a break in one weekend.  Not only did the thieves take the tools from the worksite, they cut all the copper piping and even took the HVAC system. This included the unit itself and all the ductwork. The place was a complete disaster. For the life of me I couldn’t figure out what they were going to do with an old  furnace, air conditioning unit, and all that ductwork. It wasn’t as if they could install the old ductwork somewhere else because I am sure much of it was destroyed when they ripped it out of the walls. It turns out that it could be sold for scrap metal along with the copper pipes. People are desperate these days I guess and even the older furnace could be sold for aftermarket parts if they knew the right place to buy it.  After the break in, my friends put in an alarm system and set to work putting in all new plumbing and a new HVAC system. If there is a bright side to all of this, is the the fact that the new HVAC system will help them get a better price when selling the house. It is far more efficient and the new owners will have the piece of mind that it will operate properly for years to come.
