The house is way too warm

With record splitting temperatures & heavy rains that have lasted for months, our section has experienced flooding appreciate never before.  The ground is completely saturated & can no longer absorb anymore water, however where our mother lives, he has never had a problem with sitting water on his property.  However, this year he keeps sending myself and others pictures of his backyard & it looks more appreciate a small pond. His biggest problem from this whole thing was that his Heating, Ventilation, & A/C component outside is dangerously close to that pond; I told his to put a wall of sandbags around the component to try & protect it from the rising waters. If the component ends up surrounded by water it can destruction that too & then he will have the expense of replacing that too.  I am sure that his homeowners insurance will do that but he would still have a big deductible to pay. I hope that he takes that advice & if he does it may make a huge difference, but many homeowners never provide it a thought & just wait for the waters to recede. Then, they need to make appointments & try & get someone out to repair or replace their units. Since there are several people in the same situation, those appointments can take afternoons, or even weeks, to happen. Then, these people are stuck separate from any form of heat or a/c during that time.  When the air outside is hot & damp from the never ending rain, it isn’t absolutely comfortable that is for sure. I hope that the rains stop too for all of the people who live near our mom because that much water in general can cause destruction to several things.
