I need to either add more insulation or get a better heating system. The baseboards around my home definitely don’t have enough insulation in them. During the Winter, I can feel the cold air leak from them. My feet and legs get so cold. Also, if I close any of the doors in the house, that room gets icy cold. I like to have my bedroom door closed at night. It freaks me out to leave the door open. Having is closed seals in the cold air from the baseboards and shuts out my gas fireplace. I think I might need to rip out all the baseboards and re-insulate them. Or, I could get rid of my gas heating system and get heated floors. The flooring is what is cold anyway. Having a heater right where the problem area is would solve everything. I could install heated floors in my bedroom and close my door. The heated air would never rise to the ceiling and be wasted. Radiant floors have no cold spots and don’t even make noise. I think I would love having electric heated floors stretched all throughout the house. Removing and setting up a new heater would be quite the expense though. Honestly, it would be cheaper and smarter to get more insulation. The job would really stink. Removing baseboards and reinsulating is no fun. But, after all of that was done, the heating system in the home should work better. I would not be warm in my bedroom, but I would not be freezing cold.
