I have really been stressed of late and decided to take a few days off to refresh my soul. As part of this I went to a meditation center to take some classes. I really enjoyed them but wondered how well I would be able to apply the techniques to my everyday life. According to my instructor, ten minutes of meditation a day can reduce stress and help you remain more focused throughout the day. As a corporate executive I never seem to have any time to relax so if this whole ten minute thing works, it would be great. They said that I should sit in a quiet place with natural light, close my eyes, and envision a warm and sunny place. Did I mention that I live where we have the frozen tundra for six months out of the year. Things were going pretty good and I really felt it was going great, that is until yesterday. I was just starting to envision myself on a warm and sunny beach when I realized that it was actually very warm in my house. I was finding it harder and harder to relax because I was sweating. I became evident that there was a problem with my HVAC system. The house was really getting uncomfortable and I had to shut the system off completely and call the HVAC dealer. They scheduled an appointment for later that day. I was glad that they had one available so quickly. Being transported in your mind to a warmer place for relaxation is one thing, however, actually being overheated is another.
