When shopping for a home you have to be prepared to take the wonderful with the bad… Whichever way you decide to go there will be positives and disadvantages that you will have to consider. For instance, if you have a brand condo built from the ground up then you will not have to worry about any possible defects in the home that get missed while in the inspection, but the condo is untouched by time and the elements! However, on the other side of the coin, it is very costly to do this compared to buying a home that is already built, but buying a home that is already built might be cheaper, but there could be some small thing at fault that turns into a sizable thing down the road. Those are not the sorts of things that are covered by insurance and you will have to spend our money for them, however i suppose a guy who just had that happen to him. He mulled it over and after some serious consideration, he decided to purchase a home from a very nice elderly lady who was downsizing. The condo was took care of and everything was fine, but more than one months after moving in the whole Heating and A/C method shut down. The furnace and a/c were both on the fritz. It was very puzzling and it took the Heating and A/C contractor a while to figure out the problem. There was a wiring short that started in the temperature control and somehow caused a surge in both the a/c and furnace. The result was the control boards on both units were fried and had to be upgraded.
