The last crazy wind storm had me racing outside as soon as the rain stopped! I was so worried that my HVAC system might have taken a bad hit. I don’t even live near the ocean or in a plains state, so I tend to freak out when we get really high winds. This environment just isn’t built for it, and the houses aren’t either. Tree limbs started coming down everywhere, and folks in older homes were really concerned they would start losing parts of their roofs. Fortunately for me, my roof was intact. But when I came outside, there were tree branches on top of my poor old HVAC unit. I immediately raced over to get everything off. Then I shook the water off the tarp, and untied the straps. Pulling that thing off was like some kind of horror movie; I was so nervous about what I was about to find. I breathed a big sigh of relief when I found that my condenser hadn’t taken any damage at all. There wasn’t even a dent in the air conditioner condenser cabinet. Grateful, I replaced the tarp and carefully redid all of the straps nice and tight to get it back into place. Then I just went back to pulling branches out of my driveway, and chopping up the good stuff to use as kindling in my fireplace. When my neighbor came out, he was not so lucky. His HVAC condenser had been crushed by a huge tree branch. I really hope he has it insured, otherwise that poor guy is in for a painful replacement bill.
