After twenty years of living with the same old-fashioned temperature control, I decided to upgrade. I’ve found that the straight-forward change from a manual temperature control to a programmable model has gave more than 2 benefits. The programmable temperature control was not all that high-priced to purchase, and I was able to handle the upgrade on our own. I simply removed the old machine from the wall, checked to see where and how the wires were connected, and then hooked up the current temperature control in the same way. I took the time to learn over the owner’s manual and setup guide in order to do everything right and operate the machine properly. I wanted to make sure to take advantage of all features and get the most value out of our investment. My main priority was to reduce biweekly energy usage. With the programmable temperature control, I can adjust the home’s temperature to the exact point of personal comfort. I’ve learn that for every degree I raise or lower the temperature control throughout the heating or cooling season, I can save up to several percent on our utility bill. With the programmable temperature control, I don’t end up leaving the air conditioner or oil furnace blasting at maximum capacity while our whole family is away from home. I’ve created a schedule according to our family’s respected routine. The temperature control keeps the home comfortable while we’re there and trims energy consumption when we are not home. Another bonus of the current temperature control is that it maintains a more consistent temperature throughout the home. Instead of making continual adjustments to accommodate the changing outside temperature, the temperature control runs at a constant level. The two of us know more comfortable and spend less time fiddling with the temperature control. I usually set up a schedule at the beginning of the heating or cooling season and then forget all about it. This has lessened wear and tear on the oil furnace and air conditioner, allowing the device to job at its best.
