My friends and I decided to take a camping trip over winter break. The winter weather is never too cold here, so the average winter temperatures are usually around 40 or 50 degrees. Just in case the weather was too frigid, we decided to buy a space heater for the tent. Some friends of ours went camping during the last month, and their space heater really came in handy. They were going camping too, and suggested we look for a space heater on Craigslist. We searched the ads for a space heater, and we found hundreds of listings. We narrowed down the results, so we only saw ads for new or gently-used space heaters. We found a gentleman selling brand new space heaters at 80% off retail price. We called him to ask a few questions, and he told us the amazing low prices. At first, I was hesitant to meet with the guy. The deal seemed very shady. We decided to meet at an outdoor storage center, so I felt safer. When the guy opened his storage unit door, I saw hundreds of brand new space heaters still in their boxes. The space heater was super cheap, and I couldn’t say no. As I drove away from the storage unit, I wondered if I had just purchased stolen property. I didn’t want to turn around and go back, so I took the space heater home and threw away the box. I’d like to think the guy bought a truck of space heaters at wholesale cost, and sold them at rock bottom prices to the public.
