Bad luck with cooling

When the swimming pool got contaminated, it signaled the beginning of a long and painful downturn in my luck. Overall you won’t hear me talk about luck too often, because I feel we make our own luck as we go. Lately though, has been such a series of calamities that I wonder if bad luck really is a thing. As I mentioned, it started with the pool which went from clear blue to murky pond green within 72 hours, and seems to stump the pool man as to its underlying problem.

He shocked it with a fat dose of chemical compounds, and I while I waited the week for it to work I relied a lot more on my air conditioner.  I spent a lot of time in the pool, which really helped cut down on my overall AC usage, but now that was going back up again. More air conditioning meant higher utility bills at the end of the month, but this time of year was particularly hot. I was pretty liberal with the thermostat during this time, and perhaps using it too much too quickly was what broke it.

Long story short, the A/C stopped worked while the pool was out of commission. At which point I realized I couldn’t even open up any of the windows for ventilation because they had been painted shut! There was a period of about 4 days where I had no form of cooling that I could use at all. I spent a lot of time at the library, using their AC.
