The modern home I grew up in is about an hour south of where I live now and the weather is for the most space the same, winter times are brutal with tons of snow and the warm seasons can reach upwards of 100 degrees Fahrenheit. You could get away with not having an cooling system equipment during the warm season however it would not be fair to spend a Wintertime, where I am from, without a source of warmth, and the heat the two of us used was delivered into the home using radiators located in front of each of the windows, however both of us had cushions on top of these radiators which provided for a heated seating experience. There was however one entryway that did not contain one such unit and the Wintertimes required a section gas furnace for comfort! On the other side of the spectrum, the only system of cooling ourselves for most of our childhood was the use of fans either mounted on the ceiling or placed in an open window… It wasn’t till I was about more than nine or eleven years ancient when the heat got to our parents enough for them to purchase an a/c. The A/C was installed in the master entryway, so it was often during those warm season months that our sisters or I could be found seeing TV in there. It was a liberating experience to not be uncomfortably hot in the months of August-November, as a child, I used to suppose a/cs were for wealthy folks only, and now I can’t imagine our modern home not making use of one. The A/C equipment was reliable and never required service or servicing from an Heating as well as Air Conditioning worker.
