My husband, Mister Jack-of-all-Trades

I love my husband to the moon and back. On top of being a sweet man, a wonderful husband and loving father, he’s also an incredibly talented individual when it comes to fixing the appliances around our house. Since he’s been through formal certification as an electrician, a plumber as well as an HVAC service technician, my husband has a rich education on general contracting for any home or business. This is invaluable when we’re having issues with our home’s equipment – particularly our heating and air conditioning appliances! Over the past summer, my husband had his work cut out for him, as we dealt with a total system breakdown during one of the hottest months of the year. This wasn’t due to wear and tear though – we had a severe thunderstorm with high winds blow through town, and the damage that storm did to our home was extensive in a word. The air conditioning unit outside, which houses the compressor, condenser and coils, was totally ripped out of place and carried across the backyard by flood waters – that’s how bad it was! First, we had to get another HVAC service professional out to our house and help my husband move the A/C unit back onto the concrete slab where it previously sat. From there, they ran diagnostics on the unit to determine how severe the damage was to the unit, and they found that it had to be totally replaced. My husband was less than excited to hear that news, but he did later admit that he was glad to replace it. “That system was over a decade old”, he told me, “so I’m glad we have an excuse to replace the old A/C unit.”
