Several years ago, five of my friends, as well as myself, decided to pitch in and rent an RV for a few months over the summer. It was a wild adventure to say the least, as we toured most of the country and drove from city to city, taking in all the sights we’d only seen in movies and TV. As wonderful as the trip was, it wasn’t without hiccups! I still remember how we were on the way to the west coast, driving through the desert and trying not to sweat to death. We realized as we made this drive that the air conditioning system for the RV wasn’t pushing cold air into the cabin any longer! While we all panicked for a moment, I collected myself and told the driver to stop at the next gas station. It was only fifteen minutes later that we stopped, but the terrible air quality and lack of A/C made it feel like the heating system was on full blast! When we stopped, I ran into the gas station and eagerly searched for canisters of freon. I wasn’t able to find it for a moment, until I saw an entire wall of these canisters, ready to be sold and used to recharge an A/C system! The manager for the gas station definitely knew the worth of freon to travelers, and he priced the A/C coolant like it was made of gold. We took the hit to our wallets, but it was one-hundred percent worth it. I couldn’t imagine driving another four hours in that kind of temperature!
