When I was visiting some friends down south last year, I had the opportunity to go to a rodeo. It was not a rodeo in any form that I had ever heard of or attended. There weren’t any bulls or lassoes. All there were was some people on horses, dragging air conditioning units. In a way it was interesting, but I had to laugh. I remembered when I was kid and grandpa would hire me to help him put his window air conditioner into the house for the summer. We would be hoisting that air conditioner up into the window and working like crazy to get it seated so we could get it to work. These guys had a rope around the air conditioners and they were racing to see who could pull the air conditioner the fastest, to the finish line. They seemed to be having a really good time, and we were laughing at some of the antics they were going through. It must have been really difficult to get those AC units. Some of them were bigger than any I had ever seen before. I’m sure that if I had to lift one of those AC units, I wouldn’t have been able to handle it, even now as a man. I didn’t think I would ever get to see anything as bazaar as an air conditioner rodeo, but I’m glad I did. I’m just sorry we didn’t get to see the wrangling of the heating system. This was one thing I will never forget and I’m sure I’ll be telling this story for a long time.
