The times of our life

As a child, you tend to brush off things that you don’t deem to be crucial… You are too tied up playing video games, hanging out with your friends, and doing homework to even consider spending time with your parents.

When you graduate, university and relationships begin to take priority, and you soon fall out of frequent contact with your parents.

Most of us regret the times that both of us wasted not appreciating our parents, and both of us cherish the few moments that both of us had with them. Some of the fondest memories that I had with our mom was as a child during the freezing Wintertide nights. I lived in the North, and it was freezing outside in the morning waiting for the university bus to pick us up. Since our driveway was long, both of us weren’t able to wait inside the house, where the gas furnace was running to keep the entire family warm. Instead of making myself and others kneel outside in the cold, our mom consistently started the car every morning to get the heating system running. She would adjust the thermostat to the hottest settings possible, and she would even turn on the heated seats to make the car warmer. Once the heating system had made the car toasty, our mom and I would jump in the car and drive up to the road. Without the gas furnace in the house, the car would keep us moderate as I waited for the university bus to pick myself and others up. Sporadically, the heating system made us so moderate that I would have to take off our coat while waiting for the bus. We would talk often, and I would tell her all of the things that our little brain could suppose of. I miss times appreciate that now!
