Some people are so cheap.
When the central air conditioning went out at the office, the owner of the company I work for refused to fix it.
It is one of those huge air conditioning units that is located on the roof of the building we all work in. It worked nice until two weeks ago when it suddenly quit. The owner had an HVAC company out here and, apparently, the entire HVAC system needs to be replaced. That is going to be expensive. There is a rumor going around that one of the girls in accounting overheard an HVAC technician saying that our HVAC unit would have lasted several more years if our company owner had just paid to have it serviced regularly. Now it is too late. Did the owner learn from his mistakes? No he did not. Instead of paying to have the roof HVAC unit replaced he simply bought a few window units. Only, there are not enough window units to cool the entire building down. Those of us in the call center do not seem to be getting any cooling at all and it is impacting our work. Already our numbers are way down this month. It is hard to stay motivated and work hard when you are literally dripping with sweat. People keep calling out sick too or leaving early because they don’t feel well. All I can say is that I am looking for another job in an office with good working air conditioning and I know I am not the only one. I bet this company will take a huge loss this year just because the owner won’t spring for a new A/C unit.
