Our home would cool too quickly which meant the humidity in the house would begin to build.
Last year, I had to purchase a new air conditioning unit for my home. I had no idea that when you purchased an air conditioning, there was more to it than choosing a model. The HVAC technician had to come into my house and get the measurements of my home, how many rooms there was and how many people lived there. They took our lifestyle into consideration and even the ages of our children. They gave us the amount of tonnage, which is the way they measure AC size, and asked us what model we wanted. I asked what the size had to do with the AC because the AC tonnage we needed, was more expensive in the AC model we wanted. They told us that if the tonnage is too small, our AC unit would be running continually and yet never give us the proper amount of air conditioning. Our energy bills would be sky high. If the tonnage is too large, our condenser would be needlessly recycling on and off. Our home would cool too quickly which meant the humidity in the house would begin to build. When the home cools too quickly, the AC unit is unable to properly remove the humidity which could lead to mold and mildew in the house. This would also affect our energy bills in a big way. We were grateful for the lesson in what to think about when looking for the proper size AC unit for our house. We were able to make an informed decision about our new air conditioning unit.
