I don’t understand what all the fuss is about owning an air conditioner. Now, I love having an air conditioner. It is so nice to come home to a cool house after a long day of work. The temperature of the house is exactly where you want it, and you can enjoy true cooling relief that none of our ancestors ever had. However, this doesn’t mean that I need an air conditioner to survive. Though some people can’t imagine life without air conditioning, I can definitely imagine life without an air conditioner. In fact, when I was a kid, I never had an air conditioner in my home. In fact, I didn’t need an air conditioner. My parents, if they would have had an air conditioner, would have made me play outside anyways. I learned to overcome the heat and work hard. When I needed to cool off, I could go swimming to stay cool, which also was a great exercise. There is no doubt that it was hot outside sometimes, but that made swimming even better. Back before air conditioning, I found that is was much easier outside. The heat of the inside of your house was the same as the outside, so there was no terrible transition like there was in the Winter. Nowadays, with an air conditioner, it feels like the heat punches you in the face when you walk outside. Our bodies were never made for constant air conditioning, and we are becoming weaker for it. Sure, I like air conditioners like the next guy, but life without air conditioning wasn’t that bad. In fact, I would argue that it was better.
