I live in the south, & there is no doubt that one of the things I count on every day is our , then when I was a kid, I lived even further south, where the weather was even hotter, & I highly doubt there is anyone alive down there who does not have air conditioning in their home, however back in the day, however, I can remember going to university & not having any air conditioning.
True, every one of us did not have university during the summer time weeks, however even so, it was just plain sizzling & muggy inside those classrooms with no
Most classrooms did have windows that opened, which is no longer the case, & every one of us did open them! Classrooms also used ceiling fans; Again, most public universitys today do not have ceiling fans, & they really never even consider opening their windows. I can’t imagine any parents even putting up with a university that did not have satisfactory If a public university tried to operate with a high quality, operable HVAC system, the parents would be down there complaining at the PTA meetings & in the office of the university board every day, some may even choose not to send their youngsters to university even if the was just under repair. This week’s youngsters are entirely more spoiled than every one of us were as children, but I totally understand the reason why. AS an adult, I had to teach one whole year with no HVAC laboring in the building where our classroom was housed. I had surgery that summer, & I was still reuseing when university started back. It was entirely exhausting for our health residing without that , & I hope to never do it again.
