It wasn’t too long ago that I got out of bed, got dressed and traveled 20 minutes to my office downtown.
As a matter of fact, there are days that I am halfway through my shower before I recall that I don’t work at the nice HVAC controlled office any longer.
The beautiful downtown office with all the nice wood and fancy amenities has been replaced by a home office that looks out over the driveway. At least I am able to watch to be sure our cat doesn’t flip out and go nuts in the street or something crazy like that. That aside, it has been a genuinely difficult transition to go from a formal office to a converted room. For starters, the HVAC sucks in comparison to the good old office. The room I took over for my office once belonged to my now grown up kid. When she was about 15, she went all Greg Brady and fixed up part of the attic for her bedroom. We genuinely did it together which was pretty thrilling. It turned out really nice however how she lived up here with just a cooling system window unit I have no idea. I took all the furniture and stuff out of her aged room. Putting a desk, filing cabinets and my relaxing chair up there made it a great deal more professional. However, I had to do something about the enormous heat up there. The window cooling device was fairly useless. So, I reached out to the local HVAC folks. They came out the next day and showed myself and others something I had never seen in all my years. The HVAC woman proposed that I put in a mini split heating and cooling device. The thing about the mini split device is that it does not require any HVAC duct to supply either heat or cooling. This HVAC technology is also completely efficient so it costs far less to function.
