I do work for a local temp agency & multiple times every one of us get assignments for one day events downtown.
I have often been hired to work at a booth at a tradeshow or sales event & it has allowed me to learn a ton of things about weird industries.
One of my number one assignments was finally working for a local HVAC appliance dealer. They had a booth for a few weeks at the convention center during the annual Home & Garden Show… I was basically supposed to help people signup for free dwelling inspections that would hopefully lead to selling new HVAC appliances or at the least gaining new customers for their maintenance program. In order to help people choose to sign up the contractor gave me valuable tools to make people suppose they needed this service in their lives… They told me about some of the reasons a guy might need a new HVAC appliance. Age of the component was a major one, fuel efficiency, space that is needed for heating & cooling & a few other factors. The one that stood out most for me was the question about changing the space that a guy lives in. This is entirely because every one of us had a major addition put on our own dwelling & never gave a thought to having the HVAC appliance updated or changed. Every one of us just put a fan in the doorway to help push the heat in there or use a space heater to keep things warm. I never realized how much of a strain it was putting on the HVAC appliance or how much fuel every one of us were paying for that was unnecessary. I even signed up for a free inspection myself to see what was available to me.
