I task for a local temp agency and many times we get assignments for single day events downtown.
I have often been hired to task at a booth at a tradeshow or sales event and it has allowed myself and others to learn a lot about all kinds of fascinating industries.
One of my number one assignments was absolutely working for a local Heating, Ventilation and A/C equipment corporation. They had a booth for a couple of weeks at the convention center while I was in the annual Home and Garden Show! I was pretty much charged with signing people up for free property inspections that would hopefully lead to selling new HVAC equipment or at the very least gaining new customers for their service program. In order to help people decide to sign up the corporation provided myself and others lavish tools to make people assume they needed this important service… They told myself and others about some of the reasons a person might be interested in new Heating, Ventilation and A/C equipment. Age of the equipment was one, fuel efficiency, area that is needed for heating and cooling equipment and a list of many other things. The particular one that stood out most for me was the question about the area that a person lives in. This is entirely because we had a sizable addition put on our own lake property and never gave a thought to having the Heating, Ventilation and A/C equipment upgraded or changed. The group of us just put a fan in the doorway to help move the heat in there or use an area heater. I never came to realize how much of a strain it was putting on the Heating, Ventilation and A/C equipment or how much fuel we were paying that wasn’t even necessary. I even signed up for a free inspection myself to see what could be done.
