Is your house cold and drafty? Well, I am here to tell you that it might be your fault after all! I remember when I lived in my old house.
The house always felt very drafty and cold, and soon after moving into the house, I called an HVAC technician and asked him to install a new furnace for the following winter.
I had already survived one miserable winter with this old furnace, and I didn’t plan to endure another winter without a newer, more powerful furnace. I paid the HVAC technician for the furnace and for the installation, and I prepared myself for the next winter. To my dismay, my house was still drafty and cold, even though I had a new furnace to try to keep it warm. That is when I learned something that I am going to share with you today. Your furnace won’t be able to keep your house warm unless you also take care of a few other things. Your furnace constantly runs in the background trying to make your house a lot more comfortable. If you have a working furnace and still have colder spots in your house, it might not actually be the furnace’s fault. You need to make sure that you seal every crack, window, opening, and poorly insulated wall. You have to make sure that you don’t have cold air coming into your warmed house. Unless you find and block the areas where you are losing heat, your furnace will never be able to keep up with the cold spots.
