Once I realized I was expecting my first baby, I immediately went shopping for the necessary baby furniture.
I was so excited to pick out a crib, rocking chair, changing table and high chair.
I went to every store that had baby furniture, searching for the perfect piece to put in the nursery. I had a type in mind and wanted it to be of fantastic quality. I hoped this furniture would hold up and be able to be utilized for future kids down the road. But, the pieces I found at the local stores were flimsy and not durable enough. Everything was constructed of metal or plastic and absolutely generic looking. I knew that my mother had her family room set built by a custom furniture maker. I wasn’t sure if they would also do baby furniture, but I gave them a call. I made sure they were aware of the strict safety codes for baby furniture. I was surprised when they showed me a whole catalogue of baby furniture they’d built for other customers. Their pieces were nothing like what I’d seen in stores. Each piece was functional and fantastic and made of quality materials. Because the furniture is built entirely from scratch, I was able to specify our exact needs. Also, the master craftsman had the experience and knowledge to make helpful recommendations. Although the baby furniture was not ready until right before our due date, it was worth the wait to get a good piece of furniture.
