Last year, my husband and I wanted to purchase a new air conditioning system.
We talked about installing central air conditioning but we didn’t really like the idea of needing to install ductwork into the house.
The air conditioning unit we had been using was an old window air conditioner. It cooled our home for several years, but the freezing unit that created the cool air, was gone. I was really concerned with purchasing a new air conditioner because I was sure we weren’t going to find one that worked as well or as efficiently as the one we currently have. I really thought my husband could fix the air conditioner for us. He had fixed it in previous years. He reminded me of the debacle that happened last year when he tried to just clean the air filter. He had put the air conditioner back together wrong and he couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t working. He found a spare part that looked to be minor, but turned out to be the part that kept the unit running so it didn’t overheat. We laugh about that now, but at the time, he was really frustrated and ready to throw the air conditioning unit into the trash. It got us through another summer by the time he was finished with it and put the AC unit back together. All I knew was that by the time summer came around, we were going to need some kind of air conditioning. I wasn’t about to go a summer without something to help keep it cool in our home.
