Saving energy at my home

On weekdays, I do my best to save energy by keeping the A/C turned off. I do this because I spend the majority of my days at my office, and by the time I get home around 6:00 pm each day, the sun is going down, and I’m able to get by with just the ceiling fans. I do this because I found that it makes my power bill significantly lower than it has been in the past. Of course, there are times when I do need the A/C. On the weekends, I spend most of my time at home, so I keep the cooling system going then. One thing that I had installed since I started doing this was a smart thermostat. The smart thermostat is great because if I ever forget to adjust the thermostat before leaving my house, I can change the settings from my cell phone without having to go back home. This is one of the best pieces of technology I have come across in a long time. Now, I feel like I have much more control over my HVAC unit, and I put much more thought into how things work in my space. I think more people should try to make small efforts like this because it would allow us to collectively reduce the amount of energy that we use. That’s something that we could all benefit from! Next, I think I’m going to take this a step further and have a zone controlled HVAC unit installed. I’m thinking of this energy conservation thing as a challenge now, and I want to do an even better job.
