I’ve been in the middle of a renovation on the condo we just purchased.
When my grandmother got too old to rent and maintain her condo, she expressed her desire to sell it. Thankfully, she let me purchase it from her for a fair price so I could fix it and then sell it for a higher profit. I’ve never renovated anything before, but the condo is small and only needs a bunch of cosmetic work. The first thing I did was, rip out the carpet and install hardwood floors. Next, I tore all the wallpaper off the walls. Then, I installed a new sink and bathtub into the bathroom. These few changes made a huge difference! I had some money leftover in my budget, so I decided to replace the HVAC system. When I looked into the property details, I noticed the HVAC equipment was over 15 years old, so it needed updated. I don’t think the furnace would’ve survived another winter without needing replaced anyway. The thermostat on the inside also needed a refresh! Instead of a modern and sleek thermostat, the condo had one of those old, brass dials. I’m sure it would’ve worked fine if I left it, but it really dated the place. I replaced it with a modern, programmable thermostat that blended in with the new interior. With the new cosmetic changes, the updated HVAC system, and the new thermostat, this condo has a much higher price tag. I’m still deciding if I want to renovate anything else!
