Around Christmas time my mama has the entire family over for dinner.
She will get up around 4 in the morning & begin preparing for the day of cooking.
I would say there are close to 30 people that show up each year. The weather is usually mild during this time of year in the region I live. Last year, the high was around 76 degrees & sunny! When you are using the oven all day, the condo tends to get warmer that it usually would. Last year as mama was cooking dinner, she noticed that the kitchen was extra hot. My mom had turned the AC down undoubtedly low when she first woke up. Around 10 am is when she knew that something was not working as far as cooling was concerned. She walked back into the hallway towards the thermostat only to reveal the hard truth. The thermostat, although set to 69, was reading 85 degrees. With the oven on all day, there was no way she was going to be able to beat the warmth. It was around Christmas and she knew that none of the local Heating & A/C companies would be open for house calls. Next, mama instructed my dad to gather all of the fans & set them up for her in the kitchen. This helped a small amount, however once the guests started to come inside, it only got warmer in the home due to body heat! The windows were open & the fans were on, however it was not helping that much.
