When your furnace breaks down, your first reaction is always to panic.
Nobody likes having their furnace stop working. If your furnace isn’t working, that means that you are going to have to call an HVAC technician and have them come out to fix your HVAC unit. That is probably going to cost you money that you don’t have. Also, your entire day is going to be ruined. If the HVAC technician is coming, that means that you are going to have to take a day off to watch the HVAC technician fix your furnace. However, none of these even describe the problem that you have to solve when your furnace isn’t working. When your furnace breaks down, your immediate worry is heating your house. If your furnace was the problem, then you might be able to take the cold temperatures out of the house by turning on a few space heaters, but if your power is out, then there is nothing that you can do to heat your house. How do you survive a day without a furnace? First of all, you should avoid trying to heat your house unsafely! Your stove was not created to be a heating system, and using it as a heating system is risky. Instead, you should worry about bundling up when you don’t have a furnace. Physical activity will also make the colder temperatures bearable. However, if it gets too bad, consider going to a friend’s house until the HVAC technician shows up. There is no need to stay in your house until the HVAC technician arrives.
