For the past 15 years I’ve been asking for one thing and one thing only.
- A simple structure, a respite away from torture, and a way to survive my husband’s awful camping trips.
Yes, I have been hoping for a simple RV or camper for nearly 15 years now. You see, living with my husband can be a gift and a curse. He’s extremely handy and a true outdoorsman, but this also means that he is obsessed with going out and camping in the wilderness. That seems like a fun idea, until you actually do it. Let me tell you about my camping experiences. They are always absolutely miserable, thanks entirely to the controllable air temperature, increasingly volatile climate, and presence of disgusting insects. Every single time we pack up and go camping, the weather does not cooperate. It will either be 90 degrees with 90% humidity or 20 degrees with blustery winds and icy rain. We struggle to set up our simple campground, we may or may not manage to get a fire started, and every moment thereafter is a slow and uncomfortable torture. I am always freezing cold or burning hot inside of a stagnant little tent with no access to air quality appliances. I’m usually drenched in sweat or icy rain. And I never dry off, because the air quality is too poor for adequate air flow or evaporation. Every time I go on a camping trip, I swear that I will never do it again. I beg for us to buy a little RV, just so I can escape from the humidity and weather. My husband insists there’s no point; he’s a purist and says I might as well stay home if I’m going to use any HVAC.
