After several months of searching for the perfect place to call home my partner and I were finally able to find a place that seemed to be the right fit and closed the deal.
- The first two or three weeks went off without a hitch and we were as happy as we could be, but after a few more weeks had passed we ended up running into some problems with the air quality.
Despite the fact that we had a brand new air conditioning unit with a state of the art air filter installed prior to moving in we were still having a hard time keeping the air in the home clear from dust and bacteria for some reason. After doing a bit more research on the last tenant who lived in this home we ended up learning that the mother and father who used to live here were lifelong smokers and smoked inside of the house almost exclusively. Years of smoking inside lead to smoke getting trapped into the carpet and mostly every other surface which was giving us such a hard time with the air quality. We were told by an HVAC contractor we hired that the best way wouldn’t be getting a higher quality hVAC unit, but replacing all of the carpet in the house and anything else that we were able to knock down or rip off. While we are glad the HVAC contractor was honest with us we are still facing a tough decision that will also end up being expensive no matter what we do. Oh, the joy of being a homeowner.
