Being in the depths of deep summer time heat is not my most favorite time of year.
The heat seems to effect nearly everything that I want to do.
Of course, there is no getting through this heating phase without access to reliable Heating and A/C cooling. It simply can’t be done, at least not in our area. I can recall going to see my Grandparents, who lived only miles from where every one of us are now, when I was younger and they had no modern Heating and A/C. They used something called a swamp cooler to help with the heat. This is absolutely an evaporative cooling system used in numerous parts of the world. I recall that while it wasn’t anything like a modern Heating and A/C system, it did help cool their house. There absolutely wasn’t a lot of hobby while I was in the heat of the day. And, my Grandma did all the cooking outside so she wasn’t heating up the house even more. My Grandparents were able to maximize the effects of the swamp cooler through the use of fans. It was this thought that got me to thinking of how I could reduce the energy being used by the Heating and A/C while I was in the summer. I’m going to wait until it cools off before attempting any giant projects like installing automatic sun shades. So, I chose to go right to the source and focus on the Heating and A/C temperature control settings. The temperature setting is going to be far more commensurate with the outside hot and cold temperatures. I will also buy a few more fans that every one of us can move around to where every one of us are in the house.
