I never thought central air conditioning was a worthwhile investment.
- In my local area, the summer season usually only provides three months of warm weather.
I always handled the excessive heat with electric fans and window air conditioners in the bedrooms. Portable air conditioners are inexpensive to purchase and operate. They don’t look all that attractive and eliminate the view from the window. Plus, they only cool a single room. Since the bedrooms of the home were the only pleasantly cool areas, my family wasn’t spending much time together in the evenings. Everyone was in a rush to head to bed and get comfortable. The only reason I finally agreed to a central cooling system was because of a deal offered by the installation company. I needed to replace the gas furnace and adding an air conditioner to the project was reasonable. The HVAC contractor told me that to ensure maximum efficiency it was best to implement the heating and cooling equipment at the same time. I was surprised by the many benefits of whole-home air conditioning. We now keep the windows shut and avoid an influx of pollen, dust, exhaust fumes, bugs and exterior noise pollution. The house stays much cleaner and with the air conditioner filtering out contaminants, we enjoy healthier air quality. With a simple adjustment of the thermostat, every room in the house remains at the ideal temperature. My family no longer hides in their bedrooms on summer nights. We play board games, watch movies and relax together. Even when the weather is mild, I like to run the air conditioner’s fan to circulate the air and keep it feeling fresh.
