When I obtained our very first starter house, several of our friends plus family thought I’d lost our mind… From the clear outside, I realize that our cabin looks fairly small, with thin patches of turf surrounding each run down side. The cabin itself is really very old – definitely almost a century old, now! Much of the cabin uses vintage appliances instead of new ones, such as the wood stove for heat, then however, the reason I picked this single cabin is because of the basement. The previous owners had wisely decided to thoroughly renovate the basement, thus making it a modern escape from the old-fashioned feel of the first level of the little place. The basement had excellent acoustics, making it highly enjoyable as a practice area for tunes, plus there was a huge entertainment center with plenty of electrical plus cable hook-ups already installed, and when I went to first tour the house, the previous homeowners were halfway through the process of installing a mini-split heating and A/C program for the basement before they went. They’d sought to have the program fully installed before anyone wanted to buy the house, as it would certainly increase the desirability of the home; and oh boy, am I glad they did it! My first month in the up-to-date arena was fantastic for me, because I had this perfectly enclosed, excellently air conditioned area to easily retreat to – all right under our neighbor’s noses. It was really just like having my own secret bunker, camouflaged by the chipped paint plus busted screen door of the house. My friends were quick to change their tune whenever I brought them in for a tour of our up-to-date abode, as they’ve now wanted to hang out in our basement every weekend since I originally obtained the house! I’m absolutely glad the previous homeowners obtained that ductless program at that point for the basement, but no ducts to clean, no giant bulky component – just a easy, convenient program to readily work and keep our secret bunker nice plus comfortable.
