Many years ago, when I bought our first house, several of our friends and family thought for a while that I’d lost our mind… From the outside, our beach house admittedly looks fairly small, with thin patches of lawn surrounding each side that do it no favors, then the beach house itself is easily honestly ancient – almost a century old at this point! Much of the beach house uses vintage appliances, such as the hilarious old wood stove for heat, and however, the reason I picked this beach house for myself and my dog is because of the basement. The previous owners were so smart when they decided to thoroughly renovate the basement, making it a new and trendy escape from the old-fashioned recognize of the first level. The old basement had excellent acoustics, making it fantastic as a small practice section for tunes, and there was an entertainment center on hand with plenty of electrical and cable hook-ups… When I went to first take a nice tour of the house, the previous homeowners were in the process of installing a mini-split heating and a/c plan at that time for the basement. They’d sought to have the plan fully installed before they figured anyone would buy the house, as it would really increase the desirability of the home for buyers… I’m glad they did it! My first week in the new location was really feeling fantastic, because I had this perfectly enclosed, excellently air conditioned section downstairs to retreat to – all right under our neighbor’s noses. It was really just like a secret bunker, camouflaged by the chipped paint and screen door of the old and decrepit house… I’m absolutely glad the previous homeowners bought that efficient little ductless plan for the basement, however no ducts to clean, no giant bulky unit are necessary – just a simple, convenient plan to keep our secret bunker nice and comfortable.
