Moving in with mom, still can’t use the thermostat

A few months ago I made a major leap and assumed that the world would catch me.

I had grown tired of our abusive, harassment filled workplace and decided that I wasn’t going to go back.

It was entirely upsetting and I knew that I might be facing financial ruin. I figured the worst case scenario was winding up back at our mom’s condo so I could earn some currency and get back on our feet. Well, to cut to the chase, that is exactly what happened. For the past month or so I’ve been living at our mom’s condo and it turns out that nothing has changed. Namely, I still cannot have any say in the indoor air temperature control and I’m not trusted to be somewhere near the thermostat. My mom has been convinced for years that instead of diagnosing her failing Heating, Ventilation, and A/C system or replacing the forced air gas furnace and A/C with newer models, she should simply cut back on her central Heating, Ventilation, and A/C USge. When I moved in and provided to contribute currency for the professional Heating, Ventilation, and A/C inspection and maintenance services, she refused any help with the central heating and cooling system. She told myself and others she set the thermostat the way she liked and I should not just leave well enough alone if I was going to stay in her house. This is seriously similar to her opinion of the central Heating, Ventilation, and A/C system when I was growing up. At that point, all of us were cold all Wintertide and burning up all Summer because she hated the cost of the electrical bill each month. Well, here I am again, cold our butt off and scheming about ways to sneakily change the thermostat settings. Meanwhile, I’m just waiting for our mom’s ancient gas furnace to break on its own.
