My sister decided to drop out of college to become an HVAC technician

I was proud of my sister when she got into a really good college.

The thing is, I didn’t realize that she didn’t even want to go to college.

Our parents were paying her college tuition, but she finally let me know that she didn’t enjoy being there. Eventually she called me to let me know that she was dropping out of college and would be going to a trade school. She asked if I would break the news to our parents because she didn’t want to deal with their anger. I was shocked with her choosing to go to a trade school instead, but I couldn’t blame her for finding something that she actually wanted to do. I learned that she was going to take HVAC classes to become HVAC certified. I ended up talking to our parents and it was a rather uncomfortable conversation at first. They kept asking why she didn’t tell them, but I said she was afraid of them being mad. When they realized that becoming an HVAC technician was something she really wanted to do, they finally relaxed and thought it was a good thing after all. Sure, they wasted money on her college tuition, but what good would it have been if she didn’t even want to use it. Eventually she promised she would pay them back when she finally talked to them about being an HVAC technician. Our parents told her not to worry about paying them back, they just wanted her to be happy. I thought that was a beautiful thing, and she does seem happy now.
