My husband and I’ve been home hunting for almost a year now. We aren’t in a big rush to be moving again, so we’re thoroughly sweeping through the potential new homes with a fine-tooth comb. We want to make sure both of us get the best deal possible, and both of us don’t mind putting in a little elbow grease to make sure that we get the most value for our dollar. There’s been a few houses that require a little bit of additional work if were to purchase the house. One of them, for example, recently had their heating and air conditioning system break down. The previous owners had no desire to have a new one put in place or repair the current one. Their neglect was our gain, as the home was remarkably cheaper than any other similar houses. The two of us don’t mind having an HVAC company install a new heating and air conditioning system, or even installing a new one ourselves! If it means that we are going to be getting a much better deal in the end, it’s totally worth it. My husband is a bit of a handyman, so I don’t suppose it’d be all that tricky or demanding for him to do something like that. If both of us found a situation where a new Heating and A/C system needed to be installed, or anything similar to that, I know it would be optimal for our wallets when considering the bottom line. Honestly, it’s an ideal scenario as it would also supply us with a group project to spend time together and invest into our future. Hooray for eventual homeowner status!
